Shipping Pets to Hong Kong
Animals must travel in IATA approved transit kennels that allow them to stand, lie down and turn around comfortably. Pets not travelling directly by air or arriving without the correct certification may face lengthy quarantine, so careful planning and the right paperwork are essential.
- IATA approved transit kennel required
- Direct air travel is strongly preferred
- Correct certification is essential
- Incorrect paperwork can lead to 4-6 months quarantine
- Import / Special Permit required
- Permit issued by the senior Veterinary Officer in Hong Kong
- Official Export Health Certificate signed by an OV
- Export Health Certificate must be completed within 14 days of the flight
- All pets must be microchipped
- AVID microchip preferred
- ISO chip pets may be re-chipped on arrival
- Cats need appropriate feline vaccination certificates
- Dogs need DHP vaccination certificates
- Vaccinations should be at least 14 days before travel and not more than 12 months old
